Data Business Analyst

Oct 2020 - Mar 2023
Placed on client site at Health Data Research UK as a Data Business Analyst in the Data Improvement team working with metadata related to health data and website data to understand and optimise user/researcher experience to aid in Health Data Discovery.Experience includes: Demonstrating to key stakeholders the possibility of data analytics and monitoring of both internal and external KPI's that previously had never been measured. Having demonstrated the value of this, I created the process using Python to Clean/Manipulate data end to end of the data pipeline. I built the Tableau Dashboards to both analyse and communicate the information contained in the data.Designing new data products that Health Data Research could use to aid researchers in discovering new datasets while continuously improving current products on the Innovation Gateway. For example bringing in the Metadata onboarding in house which had previously been contracted out to a 3rd party while engaging with users and major stakeholders to understand their needs to prioritise improvements to this process. Further developing this from a manual uploading of data to a fully automated synch of data catalogues. Show less

During my year long placement i worked on Design and Insights as part of the Financial Services and Technology (FS&T) team. During my time here I worked on multiple projects providing meaningful insights by analysing the data. I explained trends in the market and gave recommendations through our presentations and reports to clients. I became proficient at using Excel, VBA coding and IBM Survey Reporter. My stand out moment from my placement was being awarded the Kantar Excellence Award (£1000) for my individual work on automation and efficiency which was a side project i had set myself. I had taught myself VBA coding during projects i had noticed a lot of repetition in excel. On a project where the client had requested large amounts of data in a specific format, my team had to build this data sheet by hand and had taken approximately 3 days to create. The client a week later had asked for this request again but I had anticipated this built code into excel so that if this request was made again it would not take us 3 days to manually build but only 3 hours (of data checking). For this work i was awarded the Kantar Excellence award. Show less
