"I had previously been on the First Meeting Skills day with The Financial Planning Training Academy and wanted to develop further into structured financial planning for my practice. I wanted to develop processes into my business using full financial planning including cashflow planning software. I was also interested in taking the Certified Financial Planner qualification, there was a lot of discussion on this with many experienced planners in attendance that were more than happy to share best practice. Steve & Damien delivered the course in an engaging, interesting way. They were hands on engaging sessions and plenty of discussion on how it relates to ‘real life’. Support team members were also in attendance, the content would be a good for paraplanners looking to make the move into advising. I took away some practical ideas and there was plenty of networking opportunities available with top practicing planners."

I attended a First Meeting workshop 3 years ago just as I was starting out as a financial adviser, and what I learnt in that day has shaped my factfinding skills ever since. Three years on, and people still comment on my style and approach - something I learnt from the excellent one day course.

The Smart Training Academy was born from a frustration of watching good planners struggle and bad advisers flourish. Soft skills can be learned and they can be taught and the Smart Training Academy exists to help. Our objective is to train financial planners to communicate Lifestyle Financial Planning to their clients effectively. To help them navigate the various communication gurus and find their own successful set of skills to engage their clients. To allow their existing set of technical skills to be deployed to build fantastic long term plans for clients and open the door to those long term, mutually beneficial, relationships that both clients and planners crave.

IronBright Investment Management Limited was launched on 2 May 2017 by financial planners for financial planners to provide a sensibly priced, well diversified, managed portfolio service to private clients. The financial planners behind IronBright are Damien Rylett, Steve Brady, David Buchan and Peter Hill, the Directors of Bristol-based financial planning firm, Brunel Capital Partners.IronBright came into being when it became obvious that other financial planning firms could benefit from and share its service. Also when Brunel’s clients suggested, through a qualitative survey, that its investment philosophy and process should be more widely spread.Once clients have a long-term personal financial plan in place, the IronBright philosophy is to provide a proven, globally diversified way of investing. This is done through sensibly priced, risk managed and well balanced portfolios which meet individual client needs. The IronBright investment philosophy follows three guiding principles:Belief in the future, patience and discipline. We know that the whole market will continue to deliver long term value as it always has done; once money is invested patience is needed with an eye on the long term rather than what markets are doing today; and discipline, delivered through careful asset allocation, diversification and regular rebalancing of asset allocations to keep portfolios in line with the course set.

We provide an independent Financial Planning advisory service to individuals who seek comfort and security from knowing they have a life long financial plan in place. We begin by gaining a full understanding of what’s important to you and how you would spend your time if you had the choice. It is only when we have this understanding that we can build a financial plan to show you how much money you are likely need over the course of your lifetime. Once this is in place you can see the impact certain decisions may have on your wealth over time. It gives financial decision making a context and lets you know how much money you have to invest.
