I currently investigate the impact of renewable energy infrastructure on shark species. We use biotelemetry and BRUVs to investigate how electromagnetic fields and artificial reefs can influence the behaviour of indigenous shark species in Irish coastal waters. We use different type of satellite tags to gather baseline data on the movement, distribution and migration of sharks species.

In part fulfillment of my M.Sc. in marine biology I joined the CMRC, working on Ecojel, an Interreg funded project which assessed the opportunities and detrimental impacts of jellyfish in the Irish sea. My thesis described the abundance and distribution of Scyphozoan jellyfish in the Irish sea. We also trailed the use of both video and digital still cameras, as tools to improve abundance estimates.
