After only 6 weeks of training I accepted full responsibility for the teaching of History at the school. Key Achievements:• Independently taught over 17 lessons a week to children aged between 11 and 16 in a challenging comprehensive. • Ensured 77% of pupils reached or surpassed their expected academic targets across the two years. • Appointed an Assistant Head of House in first year leading on House Activities, whole school detentions and assemblies.• Undertook extra responsibilities to help develop the culture of the school including managing the 7 and 8 football teams and the organisation of a residential.• Produced creative material in providing lessons that held resonance with groups of pupils who were largely disengaged by British History.• Successful completion of the Teach First scheme achieving the highest grading possible for a participant.
