Conducted assessments of alleged child abuse and neglect that required frequent home visits and interviews. While conducting assessments, I gathered information consisting of the extent of the maltreatment, surrounding circumstances, child functioning, adult functioning, parenting, discipline, and how the family functions as a unit. If there is present danger a protective plan must be put in place to ensure the child is safe. If there is impending danger a safety plan with intensive in home services must be formed. If the parents refuse or are unwilling to participate in a protective or intensive in home services an order of Temporary Physical Custody (TPC) must be put in place for the best interest of the child. I completed all the required paperwork throughout the process of TPC. After each contact with the family or collateral (doctor, counselor, teacher, nurse, etc.), I was required to enter a "case note" regarding who was contacted, the type of contact (telephone call, home visit, etc), and the information gathered. During the assessment I entered sufficient information into the categories listed above. After gathering all the information for an assessment, a decision to substantiate/unsubstantiate the family for abuse/neglect must be made. Show less
