Our practice offers a comprehensive approach to projects from architecture design to urban planning and regional strategy. SHAU provides design, technical advice and execution supervision in all stages of the project, especially with respect to social, urban and environmental contexts. Together with our clients and collaborators we aim to create socially and environmentally responsible and innovative projects with outstanding design. Several key projects of SHAU include ‘Muara Angke Fishing Village’ housing and masterplan in Jakarta, Jakarta Jaya masterplan for a 58km2 island city extension in the bay of Jakarta, ‘Film Park’, ‘Alun-alun Cicendo’ square and ‘Microlibraries’ in Bandung. SHAU is also actively involved in various cultural and creative events worldwide. Either as curator or contributor we have participated in international exhibitions like the International Architecture Biennale Rotterdam, master classes, lectures and workshops. Some of the events initiated and led by us were ‘Kota Tua Creative Festival’ and ‘Jakarta Vertical Kampung’ masterclass. SHAU recently got awarded for INDE.Awards 2018 ‘Influencer’ category in Singapore, WAFX award ’Smart Cities’ category from the World Architecture Festival 2017 in Berlin, Small Firm of the Year in Sustainable Architecture from the American Architecture Prize 2017 in New York, Silver Prize from Lafarge Holcim Award Asia-Pacific 2017 in Kuala Lumpur, Architizer Jury and Public Choice A+ Award in Community and Architecture category 2017 in New York, and recently shortlisted for Dezeen’s ‘Emerging Architect of the Year’ 2018 Award as well as a Beazley Design of the Year Award 2018 nomination. MVRDV was set up in Rotterdam (Netherlands) in 1993 by Winy Maas, Jacob van Rijs and Nathalie de Vries. In close collaboration the 3 principal architect directors produce designs and studies in the fields of architecture, urbanism and landscape design. Realized projects include the Dutch Pavilion for the World EXPO 2000 in Hannover, an innovative business park 'Flight Forum' in Eindhoven, the Silodam Housing complex in Amsterdam, the Matsudai Cultural Centre in Japan, Unterföhring office campus near Munich, the Lloyd Hotel in Amsterdam, an urban plan and housing in The Hague Ypenburg, the rooftop - housing extension Didden Village in Rotterdam, the cultural centre De Effenaar in Eindhoven, the boutique shopping building Gyre in Tokyo, Veldhoven’s Maxima Medical Centre and the iconic Mirador housing in Madrid. The grand variety of projects continues in the work of the office. Current projects in progress or on site include various housing projects in the Netherlands, Spain, China, France, Austria, the United Kingdom, USA and other countries, a television centre for Zürich, a public library in Spijkenisse (Netherlands), a central market hall in Rotterdam, a culture plaza in Nanjing, China, large scale urban masterplans in Oslo, Norway, Tirana, Albania and a masterplan for an eco-city in Logrono, Spain. Large scale visions for the future of greater Paris and the doubling in size of Dutch new town Almere are developed.
