    • Strategic Communications Specialist
      • Jun 2023 - Present

I analyze KPU’s goals, target audience, and current communication methods with our department’s Deputy Director to develop comprehensive communication strategies for the academic year. These strategies include internal communications, social media outreach and management, and facilitating communication between our organization and others on campus.

    • First Year Fellow for the Communications and Outreach Director
      • Jan 2023 - May 2023

My primary role was to provide administrative support to this department’s Deputy Director. In this position, I helped create communication and promotional strategies between our organization and others and any upcoming events we hosted. In addition to these strategies, I aided in managing our social media accounts and implementing our strategy. While taking on these responsibilities, I created all promotional materials for an event hosted by me and the other Fellows in April. In doing so, I led the communications team in executing my vision and bringing a broad audience to our event. Show less

    • First Year Fellow for the DEI Director
      • Sep 2022 - Dec 2022

I assisted the Deputy Director in promoting DEI in the events we hosted in addition to our weekly meetings throughout the semester. I drafted emails and questions for our speakers, furthering meaningful conversations while emphasizing diversity in our organization’s practice. In doing so, I advanced my research skills by looking into the speakers we were hosting for our events to understand better what topics to inquire about and how to ask our questions in a way that brings the best quality discussion to our audience. While interning for this office, I shadowed attorneys in both the District Court and Felony units while primarily assisting one of the victim witness coordinators in her work. I observed and participated in meetings with clients, trials, mediation, and victim outreach. In addition, I assisted attorneys by conducting legal research on various misdemeanor and felony cases, including multiple degrees of assault, homicide, and theft. I met twice monthly with the founders of Directing Change and other high-up employees to discuss potential outreach and promotional strategies for upcoming events. Along with three peers, I planned events and informational meetings catered to high school students for mental health education. We also participated in panels directed toward high school students to educate them on the importance of caring for their mental health. Over the course of my internship, I was part of a team of about 15 other phone bankers. Some of my roles were aiding in analyzing voter feedback to locate areas of improvement while assisting individuals in filling out questionnaires regarding Mrs. Porter's policies. Along with my team, I called upwards of 600 potential voters a week, some being repeat callers, to promote campaign projects and answer any questions or concerns people had about our cause. I was part of the team to help host meetings and town halls with colleagues and potential voters to promote better open and honest political communication. We also played a big part in voter registration in our county for that election, increasing turnout by around 6%. I also helped host meetings and town halls with colleagues and potential voters to better promote open and honest communication in politics. Show less

  • Melissa Fox Campaign
    • Irvine, California, United States
    • Student Intern
      • Jun 2020 - Aug 2020

I was assigned a team of three others, with whom I was the lead. We had weekly meetings and biweekly town halls that we were responsible for planning. On top of planning the town halls, we also hosted and mediated them. My team organized what questions were being asked, who was asking them, and how they would be submitted to Mrs. Fox. Other work included reformatting parts of Mrs. Fox's website and analyzing areas where she could improve her campaign. I needed to maintain current knowledge of many government policy decisions to do this. I also interpreted policies, legislation, public issues, and more to help Mrs. Fox have more meaningful discourse with her colleagues and constituents. I led my team in consulting with and advising government officials, political parties, and others concerned with political issues. We also met weekly deadlines while maintaining high-quality deliverables. Show less
