When asked to choose a research project for my masters degree, I got in contact with Dr Kathy Gately in the department of Thoracic Oncology in the TTMI of St. James’ hospital and she drew up a project in relation to my interests in metabolic reprogramming on ‘’Elucidating the relationship between co-regulators MACC1 and PIM kinase and their role in metabolic reprogramming of PI3KmTOR inhibitor resistant NSCLC cells’’. By participating of a project on campus and being around a research lab have developed my time management, organisation, and communication with other lab users. I also have developed key scientific skills in cell culture, western blotting, cell viability assays and others such as flow cytometry and immunohistochemistry. I have experience with using excel proficiently along with analysis tools such as Graph Pad Prism and Image Studio.
