  I was responsible for operational mines in India.   Joined Tisco coal mines jharia division as a Trainee in July 1962 and gradually rose to the position of divisional Manager. Tisco,s coal mines are very deep ( 200 M to 700 M ) having prime coking coal deposits. There are 6 collieries out of which 5 are currently running. there are two coal washeries and two power plants also attached to the division. The collieries have been worked by conventional hand mining initially but were mechanized later with use of Road headers/Dint headers and LW face using plough. Indias only Scraper mining was tried successfully in Jamadoba colliery with French assistance. The coal mines have Koepe Winders installed for man winding and coal hauling. It has India,s longest U/G conveyor net work The coal mines are geologically on the deepest side of Jharia coal field. Show less
