David is one of the most impressive engineers I've ever met. He and I met frequently to create a control scheme for his exhaust conditioning system at Remora. I always felt valued and heard when working with David. He asked for feedback on his ideas often, and I could tell that he folded that feedback into his thinking. Despite the stressful startup environment, David created a truly astounding amount of hardware, proactively involved teammates across the organization to stay ahead of design or system integration challenges, and still made time to manage interns and help other engineers with their projects. In addition to quantity, I was most impressed by the quality of David's output - when he prototypes something it simply works, and usually it works exceptionally well. I cannot recommend David highly enough!
Matthew (Max) Lee
It was a pleasure working with David at Remora. His ability to retain focus and composure in a fast paced and stressful work environment helped keep our team safe and heading in the right direction. David's wealth of technical knowledge and practical engineering shone through his creative problem solving and flexible engineering solutions every day. This involved creating his own system while ensuring it would mesh with the rest of the subsystems. As a fellow mechanical engineer, I greatly appreciate David's ability to visualize and verbally break down complex engineering concepts. This made him a valuable mentor to his interns. When tasked with designing a system outside of his specialty, David researched independently and developed relationships with heat transfer consultants and major automotive OEMs in order to build a novel 6-stage prototype. Beyond his technical expertise, David is a pleasure to be around; he always kept a positive and mission-first attitude and never let his ego obscure his judgement. I confidently recommend David!

Programming & designing industrial machines, giving input from individual machine design to overall production process. First project completed in five weeks: an automated 50-ton press using a Raspberry Pi to read a quadrature encoder and pressure transducer at high speed, in order to precisely and accurately stamp preset profiles selected via a user-friendly touchscreen GUI. Operator cycle time reduced by 66%. Programming & designing industrial machines, giving input from individual machine design to overall production process. Designed, built, and installed 40+ electronic props in 4 escape rooms - Friday the 13th, Mummy, Ghostbusters, and Titanic - on location in Georgetown, D.C. up against a strict deadline with dynamically shifting priorities. Props include... -three realistic ghost traps that act in sync with CGI effects to show ghost trapping action -a network of RFID readers checking the placement of books in a bookshelf against a solution key -8 titanic service bells that must be rung in the correct order to open a door to the next room -a titanic-era emergency radio fashioned from an old resistor selection box, a sawed-off trumpet horn, and a cellphone speaker -a wooden crate with 36 independently lit glyphs, each responding dynamically to hand proximity -a fake generator crank which activates lighting and vibration to simulate a real power generator Show less

Lived in a small village (pop. 330), assisted in construction of a new school building and conducted research. Three projects were focused on gathering information which could be used for future projects. Tested water at essential sources for Siuna (pop. 20,000), mapped the area with GIS units for future reference and for local authorities, and conducted a photovoice project to allow village members to take digital pictures of issues in their community as they saw them.
