Research and Office Assistant

Jun 2021 - Sep 2021
As a researcher and assistant, I investigated press releases, legal documents, tax filings, and other online sources for use in an upcoming documentary, keeping track of relevant data and reporting to director Mary Mazzio on new developments. In this role, I had to keep strict confidentiality and use discretion while seeking information and discussing research topics. I also set up appointments for our director, corresponded with potential donors, and updated the company rolodex daily. WebDCR Program Director
-
Sep 2020 - Mar 2021
After several years of DJing and a brief stint as Social Chair, I took on the role of Program Director for WebDCR, Dartmouth Broadcasting's online radio station. In this role, I helped keep track of the show schedules each term, updating the website periodically with new art and info for each show. I also trained new DJs on the radio equipment and worked with the General Manager on special event programming. And, of course, I still DJ'd for multiple shows, both on WebDCR and on our sister station, 99Rock. Check us out at webdcr.com! Show less

For my research on penny dreadful literature, I spent multiple hours a week screening scholarly databases for both recent and contemporary articles written about penny dreadfuls. After finding resources, I evaluated them and selected the quotes and articles that best exemplified the nuances in different attitudes toward penny dreadfuls in the late 1800s, compiling succinct reports of findings for the head of the Department of English.

As a ropes course facilitator, I led groups of up to 15 through Dartmouth’s low ropes course, encouraging teams to work together and better utilize each person's specific assets in the face of different challenges, creating a space for reflection on team dynamics both within and beyond the ropes course. With new groups coming to the ropes course all the time, I had to constantly adapt to the changing schedules and goals of each group of participants, tailoring every ropes course experience to each team’s specific abilities and aims for participating in the program while still applying and communicating the importance of the Outdoor Program’s “full value contract” and “challenge by choice” maxims. Math Tutor
-
Apr 2019 - Jun 2019
While tutoring at Highland, I communicated regularly with the Academic Support team, teachers, Head of Upper School, and students to schedule and implement tutoring plans that worked for each student’s timetable and specific needs, ultimately providing students with the tools to help themselves complete difficult assignments outside of weekly tutoring sessions. In addition to my weekly tutoring responsibilities, I was also one of 16 staff members selected to lead the sophomore backpacking trip in the Blue Ridge Mountains, where myself and my co-leader taught our subset of students about the history of Shenandoah National Park through hands-on projects and hikes to significant historical sites. While working as a Marketing Intern with Mascot Books, I identified target markets for new titles and then created, edited, and distributed both electronic and print marketing materials to promote said titles. Additionally, I organized data to create a more efficient system for book distribution to booksellers and reported directly to the CEO as part of a research project to find the most promising name for Mascot Books' new imprint company. Film Intern

May 2016 - Jun 2016
The spring of my junior year of high school, I worked on a project with a local filmmaker, devising and producing a short documentary about a new restaurant, which was used as an internet advertisement. This work helped me to learn about both the production and the planning behind professional filmmaking. To see the final product, click the media tab below and then click "View Source."
