When I hired Cyrille in 2016, I knew that I was getting a globally renowned expert who would put us on the path to growth. Sure enough he delivered. In the past two years, we hit every milestone and every target, under budget and on time. However, Cyrille surprised me with his versatility. He isn´t an expert at all, in fact I would call him an Amnesty-generalist. He contributed so much more than growth. In fact, he has helped to professionalise Amnesty helped us to develop systems for performance management and strategic and operational planning. Cyrille has a deep understanding of how Amnesty operates and what effective campaigns are made of. His network in the movement is vast and on many occasions he mobilised people throughout the movement to support our section: rallying people to participate in our campaigns, donating merchandising or using his connections to connect with people who could help us with their particular skills. Cyrille also developed a good understanding of the human rights challenges we face in Argentina and comfortably navigated a complex environment where human rights issues are highly politisized. As a manager Cyrille will be greatly missed by his team. When hiring people he focuses on talent and personality, knowing that skills can be developed later. He is always accessible for his directs, patient, gives direction when needed, but also leaves his team free to strategise and plan their activities independently. This approach has really helped to create a focused environment where people are target oriented, feel a strong ownership of their work and have the confidence to work across departments. Although he will be greatly missed, Cyrille is leaving behind a committed team of experts and future leaders who have started to make a name for themselves within the movement. We wish him all the best and hope to welcome him back as an Amnesty colleague in the future.
