I managed the Science and Education Group for the Houston office and served as a subject matter expert in laboratory and health education design. • Led planning, programming and design of research facilities and laboratories, technology and instructional spaces (including STEM classrooms), clinical, diagnostic and patient care facilities, and vivariums. • Met with clients and users to develop and validate program requirements for labs and other facilities. • Developed space programs and physical plans on a variety of scales. PROJECTS OF NOTE: ► Baylor College of Medicine – 350,000 sf of lab, support and office space (12 floors) with a 204,000 sf build-out and adaptive re-use of 110,000 sf of an old factory. ► Children’s National Medical Center (Washington, DC) – Evaluated needs and proposed projects to aid in system growth over the next 20-30 years. Included multiple campuses with over 1,000,000 sf and 357 inpatient beds. ► Rice University (Houston) – Bioengineering & Biochemistry Building renovation/additions; Nanotechnology Research Lab; BioScience Research Collaborative (477,000 sf build out); New Emerging Science & Technology Center (NEST); and MD Anderson Biological Labs renovation. ► Texas Children’s Hospital (Houston) – Feigin Research Building - Renovated 12 floors and added 8 floors and 222,000 gsf for labs, offices, a training center and expansion of the vivarium. ► The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences – Winthrop Rockefeller Cancer Institute Laboratories (12 story, 330,000 sf). ► The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center – BMP Lab in the Breast Center; Cancer Prevention Building (380,000 sf). ► Texas A&M University – Medical Research and Education Building. ► University of Houston Clear Lake – STEM and classroom building (3 story, 121,000 sf).
