Through the Lehigh University Mountaintop Initiative, worked with a diverse group of undergraduates and graduate students to investigate the risk factors and trends in Tommy John surgery in Major League Baseball. Constructed an SVM classifier in C# to predict Tommy John surgery, which I trained using the features of MLB pitchers who did or did not require surgery. Using the Kinect APIs, I programmed the Kinect to identify key body positions over the course of a baseball pitch, and input them as test data in the SVM. The Lehigh baseball team practiced their pitches in front of the sensor, resulting in a classification of whether or not they would be at risk for Tommy John surgery. Show less
