I had the pleasure of working alongside with Cyndy in August 2015, as we co-organized a big annual conference for a professional non-profit organization that we both volunteer for. Our lives are in different timezones (she is in North Carolina, and I am in California), but I can attest that Cyndy is an excellent communicator. She can comfortably lead a team of volunteers, motivate the troops, and articulate her thoughts in a way that is both to-the-point as well as tactful. She always has a clear vision of what she wants, and (on numerous occasions) has demonstrated that she is willing to "pick up the slack" when other volunteers are not carrying their own weight. Her passion for social impact is an additional strength that gives her words even more power, because people know that she is championing for a cause which is outside of her self-interests. It was an honor working with Cyndy, and I look forward to working with her again in the future.

Cyndy is a gem with many facets, and lots of fire! She finds out what needs to be done and does it. I value her unique ability to always make a positive difference. An eloquent, thoughtful thinker, Cyndy can be found in the thick of things as a leader and boundary spanner. For example, she led environmental outreach efforts in Philadelphia, speaking to hundreds of students about watersheds and natural resources, then created the nation's first bilingual stormdrain project in Philadelphia's Chinatown.

Served as first executive director of NAAAP to maximize programs, growth, and impact of a leadership organization for Asian American and Asian Canadian professionals. NAAAP is a community of 25+ chapters, 5000 members and 25,000 contacts in N. America, diversity-minded corporate employers, and other non-profit and academic partners. Focused on daily operations (fundraising, marketing, finance, and technology) and strategic planning with the Executive Team and Board. Planned 2 major events each year. As E.D. and an advocate, I posted about issues and incidents relating to culture, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging, business and economics affecting Asians, and leadership, success, and excellence. My viewpoints were not wholly representative of the entire NAAAP organization, its members, or the Asian American community as a whole.NAAAP National programs: Leadership Convention @ www.leadershipconvention.orgWomen in NAAAP, ERG Leaders training, PRIDE, Self-Care and Wellness , NAAAP100 Awards @ www.naaap.orgMagazine of Leadership and Success @ www.ALIST-Magazine.comNational Leadership Academy

Karate-do, literally translated as the "way of the empty hand' improves mental, spiritual, and physical fitness. Skills developed include self discipline, patience, respect for others, motivational speaking, parent relations, event management, and marketing and they translate into life and business skills --accountability, diversity and inclusion,, and mentorship. TBK teaches Japanese shotokan karate and Okinawan kobudo and prepares youth and adults for elite (national and international) competition. TBK was the local host of two AAU Karate National Championships in 2015 and 2017 at the Raleigh Convention Center, an enormous responsibility and honor.
