Responsibilities include supporting military children by providing direct intervention in classroom and family childcare situation, assist staff in setting and managing boundaries; model behavioral techniques and provide feedback to staff; outreach to parents; facilitate psycho-education groups at child and youth program sites; conduct parent and staff training sessions to include but not limited to school adjustment, deployment and separation, reunion adjustment, behavioral concern, separation, grief and loss and daily life issues. Provide brief interventions utilizing a short-term, solution-focused approach. In addition, assistances is provided to Service members and their families to help cope with normal reactions to the stressful/adverse situations created by deployments and reintegration; provide support; assist with identifying options; offer skill-building tools; assist with problem-solving; suggest appropriate resources; and provide coaching. MFLC’s also conduct briefings about the MFLC program to military members.
