For the past 20 years I have lived my life as an athlete in the sport of wheelchair rugby. I've competed and tasted success at the highest level there is. A Gold Medal at the Athens Paralympic games in 2004 added to a tally of bronze in Atlanta 96 & Sydney 2000, plus a World Championship in 2014. It feels good to be at the top . At 15 years old I thought I was unbreakable. In 1992 I played rugby league…..hard. I was a Manly and NSW rep with a bright future. At 37 years old it’s astonishing to now look back at what I used to put my body through. One day I pushed those limits a bit too hard & ended up changing my life forever. I was soon to find out I was never going to play rugby league again. To me there was only one choice & to start living my life the first thing I had to do was get out of that hospital bed & into a wheelchair. I did that in record time and have gone on to achieve many wonderful things. To this day I’m forever thankful for the experiences I’ve had since my accident over 20 years ago. I’m passionate about inspiring people to get control of their lives. I do that through speaking to groups, schools and companies. I have tasted success at the highest level and I have the tools to get other people there too. I believe that no matter your situation the only person holding you back is yourself.
