I had the opportunity to supervise Crystal during a very unique time. The Covid-19 pandemic upended much of the business world, and she, along with others in her business unit, had been temporarily furloughed for several weeks. My department, however, was overwhelmed with inquiries and applications from businesses seeking PPP funding from the government. Our department recruited furloughed employees from a variety of other departments within the credit union (and its subsidiaries) to handle the influx of new accounts and process the PPP applications. Crystal was temporarily reassigned from her Personal Lines Insurance Sales Agent over to the Business & Commercial Services team and worked under my leadership during April & May of 2020. During the time Crystal worked for me, her presence made an immediate positive impact. She was able to immediately jump into a phone queue and start assisting borrowers and team members, despite having only minimal training and direction. Crystal managed a tremendous inbound call volume on a daily basis, yet would still seek out and request additional duties and responsibilities during any lull in call volume. As additional projects were delegated and assigned to her, she quickly adapted to each new role and responsibility with patience, humor and enthusiasm. She worked without requiring oversight and supervision, yet smoothly pivoted to new tasks with grace and ease whenever she was asked (which was frequent, due to the circumstances and information constantly changing). Crystal repeatedly demonstrated her work ethic, tenacity and integrity during a challenging time for our team and she was a tremendous asset to our department during her brief tenure. Even after she returned to her role in Insurance, she still continues to assist our BCS team as my "go-to" for Insurance-related matters and inquiries. I can wholeheartedly recommend her for any endeavor she aspires to, knowing that any team or company she works with will reap the benefits of her character, grit and experience.
