Bio
Katie Jones
When Crystal and I worked together, she built a strategic long-term view of success in her role as Director of Teacher Support, planned her work, executed and reflected throughout the year. She was an incredible asset to our team and made me a better manager, as we collaborated in partnership to move the work forward. Crystal authentically built and maintained strong relationships with her cohort of teachers and students. She built trust quickly, as stakeholders recognized her deep knowledge, thoughtfulness, and concern for supporting first generation college students to be successful in their post-secondary pathways.
Gabriela Torres
I had the pleasure of working with Crystal while she was co-leading transformational change at a national college access and success organization. Her leadership demonstrated a consistent and deep commitment to student and equity centered practice. Not only does Crystal work from a place of rich knowledge and expertise from an academic perspective, but she couples that depth of understanding with a care and concern for the students impacted by her organizational guidance. I have seen her move others to do the same, as her ability to influence and positively impact the work of others was evident throughout my time working with her. What I miss the most about working with Crystal is her ability to bring issues of racial equity and the impact race has on our lives and the lives of the students we serve to the forefront of our work. She is the type of leader that is clear in her mission and moves the work forward because of it. I learned so much from her.
