Holder of a research grant on the topic: "Polymeric nano-organized donor / acceptor systems for electronic devices: control of the generation, transport and trapping of the charge". The research concerned the synthesis of oligomers and block polymers for photovoltaic and electroluminescent devices by the use of different types of chemical reactions: alkylation, brominations, stannilations, synthesis of organomagnesium and boron compounds, polymerization by Stille and Suzuki reactions. Holder of a research grant on the topic: ""Biotechnological approaches to the synthesis of alkaloids and polyphenols". The research, within a program of Scientific and Technological Cooperation between Italy and South Africa, concerned the study of the performance of laccase enzymes in the oxidation of phenolic derivatives. In the same period a second project was carried out concerning the chemo-enzymatic synthesis of new colored and fluorescent polyesters by the use of lipase enzymes.
