One-half of a nimble architectural studio led by two ambitious young designers. Active and experienced in both the United States and Panamá, we believe that great design sells, and aim to create value for our clients through smart planning, attractive materials, and careful detailing. In the end all buildings are designed for use by real people, and we embrace this simple fact that is often ignored for the sake of architectural vanity. And then we have fun, lots of fun. Current projects include a boutique hotel in the Pearl Islands, a collection of single-family homes west of Panama City, and the restoration of a mixed-use apartment block in historic Casco Antiguo. Closer to home we are busy with a high-tech, year-round urban farming campus in Englewood, the renovation of a classic West Loop loft apartment, and untangling the zoning web to let "tiny homes" provide affordable urban housing in Chicago and Nashville. Flats & Phase II Masterplan - Pearl Island, Panamá (Architect & Project Manager) Designed the master plan for a high-end residential site on an exotic getaway island in the Archipelago of Las Perlas, Panamá to include 6 buildings, 32 apartments and a large park with a pool area. As the principal designer and project manager, I coordinated meticulously with the Developers Sales Team to create highly efficient floor plans and select materials to achieve the specific cost / square meter that the developer was looking for. Costa Verde Club House - Ciudad de Panamá (Architect & Project Manager) Leader of the first design-team within the office as the firm took on its first large-scale project. The team designed a Club House & Sports Facility for a large community in the outskirts of Panamá. Collaborated with the client and engineers to produce a highly functional and beautiful set of building that integrated harmoniously with the proposed downtown area while keeping with the modest budget available. Residences in Las Catalinas, Costa Rica (Architect) Co-designer and construction documents coordinator for multiple private vacation homes on the beaches of Costa Rica. Worked closely with contractors and local craftsmen to create beautifully built traditional details, unique to Latin America. Residence in El Valle, Panamá (Intern Architect) Assisted in the development of construction drawings based on the original design of a residence in El Valle, Panamá. Show less

Midtown Square Apartments - Glenview, IL (Staff Architect) Participated as part of the design team for a mixed-use mid-rise development in downtown Glenview that is a manifestation of the Village's new form-based code. From initial sketches on trace to Construction Documents and approval of permits, this project was an exercise in adapting to a new form-based code while protecting the interests of the developers and the needs of the community. Arkadia Tower - Chicago (Staff Architect) Created massing models and renderings of a high-rise tower in downtown Chicago to be presented to the Alderman and neighborhood groups during the community approval process. Worked with the community to adapt the design of the building to fit the needs of the developer, future tenants, and neighbors. Show less
