This entailed scheduling appointments for normal surgeries like spays and neuters but also stenotic nare surgery, Gastric Dilatation and Volvulus surgery in emergency situations, Bladder stone removal surgery, in addition to our regular daily appointments. We also saw emergency patients in addition to our regular scheduled patients so it took a bit of manipulation of the schedule to get this all accomplished. When I arrived in June of 2005, the hospital was still using a paper book to schedule everything. I looked at the software program Dr. Bowser was using and there was a schedule in the software he was not using, so I asked him to look at it with me and convinced him to change over. His lead receptionist gave a lot of push back as she didn't want to change, but he convinced her to go ahead. After the hospital went to the computer schedule things went much smoother as far as scheduling. We also prepped all the charts for the Veterinarians for the upcoming day by pulling them, getting paperwork for surgeries in them, pre-dated for the day ahead and any puppy or kitten information in them that was expected. If clients called for medication refills, we pulled the charts, made notations for the vets, prepped the chart for them and put it in the appropriate Dr. area for them to look over and approve for filling. I also was in charge of accepting the prescription food orders and making sure they were correct, putting them away correctly and occasionally ordering when the other person was on vacation. I also crossed over to the back as a technician assistant. I help hold for blood draws, x-rays, ultrasounds, assisted in surgeries, on emergency calls, helped with cleaning cages if we were short handed, did laundry, cleaned messes. It takes everyone to make a vet hospital run. I found that out my very first emergency hospital when I was 22. Show less
