• Security Officer

  Head of Security, • Undertakes regular security inspections of the vessel • Maintains and supervises the implementation of the Ship Security Plan • Checks security equipment and communication devices • Ensures readiness for operation in co-operation with the Master and Staff Captain • Issues instructions related with his duties in a simple and clear manner and controls the execution of the instructions • Responsible for security familiarization on board • Responsible for carrying out security drills as required; training of the crew • Properly recording all necessary documentation • Motivates ship’s officers and crew in the execution of the Ship Security Plan • Schedules security rounds in co-operations with the Safety Officer • Responsible for the pilot boarding and transfer through the vessel • Supervises gangway rigging and preparation when in port • Organizes security during vessel’s stay in port and during tender operations when at anchorage • Reports all occurrences or unlawful acts • Continuously reviews the SSP and proposes improvements to the plan • Has to forward relevant security reports to the company • Investigates security incidents in co-operation with the Staff Captain Authority: • Reports directly to the Master in regard to matters concerning the ship’s security • Assigns special duties to the officers and crew in co-operation with the Staff Captain • Orders spare parts, services etc. for security equipment • Proposes any changes with respect to the SQMS and the SSP Substitute: Staff Captain or Master in case Staff Captain is SSO Reporting to: Master, Staff Captain, Nautical Superintendent, CSO
