I was first introduced to Creative Future by my caseworker in 2011. I attended some of their drop-in art courses. Having been a creative all my life and having to give up work due to my disability, I needed something to keep my mind occupied. Since then my work has featured in the Tight Modern three times and over the years I have become a regular at many of the workshops that Creative Future run. As the landscape for funding for the arts has changed, so they have found innovative ways of supporting people like me. I can't praise them enough, they have lifted me out of my depression, given me a new purpose in life and helped me exhibit around the country. I've learnt new skills, made friends and I've made some modest sales both nationally and internationally, which helps but I find the creative process is very important to me because it serves as a diversion to the pain I experience every day. That being said my long term goal would be to hopefully earn a living at what I do, I see my work aiming, more recently, to more commercial works and with Creative Future's guidance, I have been able to explore that. I have also had the pleasure of passing on some of my skills at our personal development sessions that Creative Future are currently running. Thanks to all the staff and volunteers at Creative Future for all that they do. Kind regards Mik

Creative Future is an organisation with a unique mission statement, and it goes above and beyond to fulfill it. While keen to showcase marginalised writers, it insists on only publishing work of high quality - which has driven me to develop my writing skills and grow as both a writer and person. CF's initiative with the Big Issue is one I wholly recommend, as it allows writers and artists to achieve publication and get their name known while supporting some of the most marginalised people in society. I also wholly support the acceptance of BME and LGBT artists and writers - it shows CF is interested in aiding all disadvantaged groups, not just people with disabilities or in poverty.
