Responsible for the integration of “new” Class 15x vehicles into the existing EMT 15x fleet, 153 WSP fitment project and management of the ongoing C6/PRM programmes. Alignment of differing vehicle systems and maintenance schedules, supplier contract management and new contract negotiations. Working with other functions to ensure all EMT’s needs are realised, whilst also ensuring compliance with both industry and company standards are met. Reporting current status of projects to stakeholders, through periodic reports or presentations. Using a controlled approach to all aspects of projects has driven governance and subsequently allows for change requirements relating to any aspect to be assessed quickly and accurately against the project overview and potential benefit. The management of these projects has included organising safety critical tasks within a scope of works to maximise quality within available unit down time. Reviewing specifications and technical queries has led to suggested amendments to scope of work and testing schedules to suit the wide ranging levels of modifications that have been implemented. Planning retrospective work streams, along with material and staffing requirements for these to be carried out with minimal impact on the availability of units within a challenging diagram. Managing arising work both during and on return from overhaul, warranty claims on component/system failures and supplier rectification in these instances, again has been essential to ensure day to day unit availability has not been compromised. Managing the maintenance and operational commitments of all East Midlands Trains Fleets and Depot infrastructures (permanent and temporary), along with arising often complex incident requirements during the Derby Re-signalling project.

    • Technical Engineer/Project Manager
      • Dec 2015 - Apr 2018

During this time I was responsible for a broad range of tasks including, leading the strategic planning and resolution of complex and diverse vehicle faults. Writing and reviewing technical documentation. Implementation and support of modifications to the Class 15X fleet operated by East Midlands Trains. Controlling and developing warranty processes including providing supplier material/defect reports. Providing technical support and data capture for operational incident investigations. Specification of engineering tasks for pre and post overhaul vehicle inspections. Developing test criteria ensuring product quality and compliance with industry standards. Reporting directly to higher Fleet Management and working with supplier and rolling stock operating company engineering and commercial representatives. In this period I would also deputise for the Depot Production Manager ensuring productive outputs and planned workloads were monitored and reported, maintenance planning alterations were also an essential requirement to match Depot capacity and also operational requirements.

    • Team Leader (dep)
      • Jun 2012 - Dec 2015

Role responsibilities include scheduling preventative maintenance along with priority assessing arising defects and corrective maintenance tasks. Working as the leader/supervisor with a team of 7 carrying out T&RS repair and servicing tasks. Ensuring work undertaken is correctly recorded and carried out in accordance with engineering reference documents and industry standards. Co-ordinating plans/projections with other stake-holders to ensure fleet availability is maximised. Managing staff holidays and competency assessment planning along with undertaking return to work interviews post sickness. Reacting to infrastructure faults and supplying detailed failure reports to external agencies for corrective action requirements.

    • Avionics Technician
      • Jan 2002 - Jul 2009

I was the senior avionics technician on shift where my primary tasks were servicing and carrying out corrective/scheduled maintenance. All manner of technical tasks were carried out from component replacement, functional tests, adjustments and in-depth electrical fault finding on all aircraft systems. Whilst on the squadron I was detached on operations to the Middle East where we supported the air-to-air refuelling variant of the Tristar aircraft. A lot of the time was spent on servicing the air-to-air refuelling system and often assisting the airframes and propulsion trades. I also carried out servicing crew duties where I was required to operate on trips globally to assist ground engineers in servicing and maintaining the aircraft. I advised the Rectification and Engineering Controllers with faults reported during aircraft departure with these often being mission critical. It was imperative that I quickly and accurately reported and diagnosed. Training aspects covered included; electrical and electronic principles; motor and generator theory; aircraft electrical/avionic systems; fault diagnosing techniques; maths; engineering science; pitot static systems; aerodynamics and digital techniques.
