  Responding to the 2011 Tohoku Japan earthquake and tsunami I had the privilege to lead an RMS contingent to a multi-discipline Catastrophe Impact Assessment Team (CIAT). Shortly after the event, this team of researchers, engineers, economists and risk professionals over a two week period in coordination civil and military officials followed first-responders into heavily damaged northeastern coastal areas of Japan and Sendai city.
