I began working in Next on a delivery contract, prepping the clothes in store for sale. This included pricing the clothes in Euro (from £ Sterling), hanging them on correct hangers, cubing them for the correct size, tagging them for security and putting them away in the stockroom ready to be brought to the shop floor. Very soon after, I moved to a Replen contract which consisted of replenishing the shop floor of certain sizes and styles which have been sold throughout the day. This brought more responsibility as the store trusted me to be on the shop floor dealing with customers. For the last 3 years of working in Next, I worked on the Men’s shop floor as a sales assistant, as well as doing countless extra hours on the women’s, children’s and home floors. Responsibilities included welcoming customers to the shop, taking in money at the tills, assisting customers in what clothes to buy and pushing sales as much as possible through link selling. From working in Next, I have developed great communication skills and leadership skills from when I was left in charge for certain periods near the end of my time there, when I left to travel to the USA on a J1 visa from June to August.
