      Upgrade to National Route N3, Between Lynnfield Park and Ashburton – N003-023-2017/9This R1.3 billion project involves the complete upgrade to a section of the National Route N3 between Durban and Pietermaritzburg in South Africa. The roadworks include bulk earthworks, drainage installation, layer-works, asphalt surfacing and a reinforced concrete pavement. In addition to the roadworks, there are also two bridges, retaining structures and the relocation of various services. My roles and responsibilities include the management of all teams on site, as well as dealing with various subcontractors, suppliers and government organizations.

I supervised and manage the construction of the stormwater, sewer installation, minor earthworks, basement surface beds and layerworks for this R2.2 billion development, expanding the original Fourways Mall from 90 000 m2 to 170 000 m2, making it one of the three largest shopping malls in South Africa. The Mall falls part of a long-term future development envisioned for the Fourways and Douglasdale precincts

      Umgeni Viaduct, Dumisani Makhaya DriveThis project involved two incrementally launched bridges over the Umgeni river. Both bridges ran side by side at 60m above the valley floor. With the length extending 480m between the abutments, both bridges were incrementally launched at a 9% slope, resulting in a technical launch set up. I gained experience in the setting up and organization of launches, the staying (post tensioning) of piers, basic survey and formwork installation.
