While officially the Beyond Dirty Fuels Campaign's Gas Exports Deputy Press Secretary, I work on any environmental justice issue in the Gulf Coast. I specialize in building online environmental-justice narratives; documenting oral histories of the Gulf Coast; supporting community-based journalism and grassroots movements; disaster response, climate change, and hurricane recovery; and amplifying the Gulf Coast resistance against the extractive economy. I also track the oil and gas industry activities related to fracking in the Permian Basin, petrochem and its health/enviro impacts, gas exports and associated infrastructure, state and federal environmental/permitting agencies, and political-corporate corruption. The Houma Language Project is an independent volunteer organization developed by a group of Houma aimed to reclaim and revitalize Uma, Houma's native language that predates the colonial tongues of French and English, and to preserve and document Houma culture in the context of language. HLP partnered with my Tribe, the United Houma Nation through a grant provided by the Administration for Native Americans to create a youth language internship program. I help develop the program structure, manage a group of 8-12 students per semester and provide programatic support, coordinate communication between language mentors and the Tribal administration, lead outreach for the program, and evaluate students' progress and achievements in the program.
