      I was originally hired as a painter, but management quickly noted my initiative and eagerness to expand my knowledge in other aspects of the job. They noticed that I am mechanically inclined and swiftly changed my title to maintenance within my first month of hire which afforded me the opportunity to use many other skills that I have acquired over the course of my work history. These skills include (but are not limited to): Welding, usage of hand tools and power tools, operating machinery (such as forklifts, genies, single person lifts, scissor lifts, dump truck), troubleshooting and fixing issues that arise on the property (everything from industrial roll up garage doors to appliances), general maintenance (basic plumbing/ electric/HVAC), ordering supplies etc. All new work assignment were still in addition to my typical painting assignments (preparing/repairing surfaces, painting, paint removal etc.) My employers then understood my work ethic and what keeps me motivated, which is the opportunity to learn. I recently received both a promotion and a raise in January, my fourth month of hire. My title is now Mechanic. All of my previous responsibilities are still mine with the addition of troubleshooting/repairing/maintaining the machinery/ vehicles that are in use around the facility. These things include the lifts, the forklift, golf carts, hydraulic fire pump system, etc. Show less
