  At Parkhouse, a skilled nursing facility, I provided daily personal care for patients with Alzheimer's, Dementia, and Schizophrenia. I tried to bring a sense of love and dignity to these people at the end stages of their lives. I built relationships with them over time so they would trust me to care for them. It was a very rewarding feeling when they would see me and smile, knowing that on that day I was their personal care assistant. It was also heartbreaking when they would pass.   My education experience started first in the Phoenixville Area School District from 2000 to 2002 and then continued in the Spring-Ford Area School District from 2003 to 2011. As a paraeducator, I modified curriculum to address the needs of students with learning challenges. I used my love of people to encourage and empower these students to achieve more than they thought possible. I assisted in a classroom where we helped each child discover their style of learning and focused on the fact that ever person is smart in a different way. The thought or stigma they carried with them of not being a good learner quickly turned to a realization that they're just smart in a different way. The results were amazing. The classroom I worked in was recognized by The Council for Exceptional Children for its successful program. Show less
