Led communications in the final year of construction of the Waaban Crossing, the City’s largest infrastructure project to date. As part of the project management team, developed strategic communications and engagement plans and executed tactics for construction updates, a preview event and the official bridge opening event. In collaboration with the City Clerk’s Office, led communications planning and tactics for the 2022 municipal elections through the execution of several sub-campaigns. Communications tactics were focused on broader community awareness with a particular emphasis on reaching equity-deserving groups. Worked with the City's Accessibility Office to facilitate public engagement on the multi-year accessibility plan. Partnered with a local accessibility consulting agency to organize focus groups and solicit feedback from persons with disabilities. Supported various City departments with media inquiries by facilitating calls, and providing research and interview preparation to the subject-matter expert. Leading the editorial process and writing of City Matters, a monthly newsletter diving into top local municipal issues, sent to 2,500+ subscribers with an average 55% open rate. Facilitating public engagements as part of the City’s Public Engagement Framework. Employing techniques that align with the scope of the engagement and reporting back to the community on the results. Engagements vary in structure but begin with a foundation of transparency, respect and collaboration. I chat with local winemakers in Prince Edward County about everything from the cellar to the tasting room to the vineyard. We explore topics including sustainability, winemaking techniques, navigating change and what excites each of them about wine. I also connect with local chefs and restaurant owners to share their stories as part of Kingston's culinary landscape.
