Bio
Hélène Courrier, PhD
Living in Erik's designed house is very harmonious. The house (80m2) was redesign in order to give more space and let the stream flows naturally (closing duplicate passage areas, open space and avoid doors). I wanted to avoid furniture, therefore Erik incorporated functional sliding doors cupboards, shells and benches by the windows. Materials were chosen to give a cohesion to the all, oak on the floors in the living rooms, black tiles on the floor and glass wall tiles in the frequent passage areas. The coherence is also found horizontality, all added furniture have the same height . The verticality and the centre are stressed by a red wooden column in the middle of the house indicating the elevation by following the stairs. In sum, this house is a piece of art where symbolism and functionalism are in good harmony.
