This letter is my personal recommendation for Cosmas Ochieng. I interacted with Cosmas Ochieng, General Manager of the then Horizon Business Ventures Limited (HBV) and now General Manager of Eco Fuels, Kenya Limited while on my 2-year stint of duty in Kenya (2009-2011) as a VSO volunteer charged with conducting three pivotal development projects in Kenya: HBV project, Kieni East Horticultural Project and Nature Based /Biodiversity project with the overall goal of ensuring food security, increasing the market share of the companies involved, the empowerment of natives, sustainability of livelihood activities and promoting the welfare of the poor. I found him to be consistently pleasant, tackling all assignments with dedication especially collecting vital data for monthly Statement of Cash Flow (Liquidity data), Income Statement, Productivity Levels and monthly Revenue Levels for HBV. His dedication for consistency, his determination to think outside the box, go an extra mile to ensure technological engineering efficiency and Economic Efficiency (Bedrock for effective marketing) were finally rewarded when I spearheaded with his reliable assistance in ensuring the nomination, eventual selection of HBV as one of the two regional winners of the Entrepreneurship Recognition Scheme-VSO MAKING MARKETS WORK FOR THE POOR SAF/HEA (MMWAP) and finally winning a total prize of $1,500 for the company. This scheme covered the Horn of Africa, East Africa, Central Africa and South Africa. Besides being a joy to work with, Cosmas is a take-charge person who is able to present creative ideas and communicate the benefits. He successfully developed several marketing plans for HBV that translated into increased revenue. During my tenure as Project Manager for the said three projects, we saw an increase in profits on a monthly basis that exceeded over KSH 400,000. This new norm was a direct result of the plans implemented by Cosmas. Though he was an asset to our marketing efforts, he was also extraordinarily helpful in other areas of the company. In addition to writing effective training modules for sales representatives, he assumed a leadership role in sales meetings, inspiring and motivating other employees. There is no doubt in mind of his abilities as a successful Manager and I will not hesitate to recommend his services to anyone.
