  As the CEO of Carpenter Place I was responsible for all facets of the Organization from fund raising to hiring and firing. During my tenure we were able to almost double the amount of available beds on campus, open a new Transitional Living program and increase our donations by over 30%. After working in Children's Homes for 7 years as a Houseparent, Director of Development and now CEO, I've learned to rejoice with the small victories and understand that only the children that want to be helped will be successful. Life is messy, and when you're working with children that are living in crisis situations you learn quickly that Children's Home work is messy and complicated. But, when a child that is struggling decides it's time to make a change, it makes all of the stress, tears and issues go away. In my 2+ years at Carpenter Place I was able to witness more life change than I had in the previous 5 years of Children's Home work at other Homes. We had created an environment of change, and the children were responding to the loving houseparents, dedicated staff and structured environment we created.
