Hired on a casual basis I provided respite and carer support to families and their children. Assisting carers with day to day needs or provide opportunities for them to do other activities whilst I looked after their child. I was also able to work alongside mentally and physically challenged adults who needed assistance with day to day activities such as shopping, medical visits/organising, home maintenance. Across this position I was able to provide in-house care as well as taking my clients on outings that allowed them to participate in engaging, stimulating activities. As well as enjoy simple things such as swimming in a pool or picnics in a park. My role asked me to maintain daily logs of experiences and interactions with my client. As well as asked me to update and maintain my first aid awareness and knowledge. By maintaining logs I worked alongside my colleagues as well as collaboratively engage in consistent and updated practices. It was an incredible experience working with these families, children and adults as well as gain experience and insight into the many unique and incredible humans around me.
