I worked as a peripatetic Art/Music Teacher for all ages: 4 to 15 year-olds, mainly based at the Gladys Newton campus in Balga but also travelling once a week to a satellite class attached to a mainstream school. This special educational setting catered for students with severe and multiple disabilities. Many of the children were non-verbal so alternative and augmented forms of communication such as Makaton and PECS were often used.
