Oversee the Community Council of Color that has a representation of the four ethnic groups. The council is responsible for 3 areas that report back to the President of Madison College. The three areas are: student success, hiring staff and faculty, and Community Involvement as a bridge between Madison College and the community particularly the communities of color.Student Success:• Increasing scholarships for undocumented students • Fundraisers for student scholarships and the creation of a Foundation account that councils can distribute• Understanding availability of financial aid• Support college strategic goals (student success, partnerships, etc.)• Review ethnic minority student dataHiring/Staff:• Recruitment of staff and students, mentoring and support of students and employee hiring• Review ethnic minority staff Community Involvement/Support:• Advisory committee will serve as a main communication channel to minority communities• Members are voices for other agencies/organizations brought to MATC• This group needs to support community events / advocate for events that reflect community needs• Advisory committee is vetting ground for new programming for community needs• Strengthen connection with college administration by engaging them in community events, organizations, etc. – like a job shadowing/mentoring opportunity for leadership; “principal for a day” concept; identify and sponsor major educational events that impact minority communities such as: careers, financial aid, apprenticeship, etc. Other:• Reporting function to VP and college through reports, presentations, etc. • What is image/reputation of councils within college? This can be an outcome but this will largely come about as we carry out our work
