  CONTEXT Working in a small entity of Schneider Electric with approximately 150 collaborators. The entity is producing retrofit of electrical devices for the Marines, hospitals and nuclear companies. Ten years ago, the unit director launched application to make easier the work of the collaborators and everyone in the entity is working on it. The application extract data from SAP and agregate them. The data consistency must be respected due to the critical activity. Many developers have worked on it without having a code convention. This application was originally programmed using PHP, HTML and CSS without a framework. ACTIONS - Create a Code Parser in Python -> Database conception -> To parse project with recursivity -> To extract technical debt test result - Organize the team with daily meeting and weekly reviews - Refactor code -> Use Code Parser result to prioritize the refactoring part - Improve the web navigation (Javascript/JQuery) -> Switch to asynchronous treatment -> Re-design the webview -> Merge pages into one - Train other employees on how to use the application - Create a functionnal documentation and code convention RESULTS - Code Parser displaying results of technical debt. Script scalable - Reduced the loading time up to 100 times by passing asynchronous pages and improved the database performance - Gained the recognition and the trust of our collaborators as we understood theirs needs and purpose solutions - Increased the usage of the application on new features - Documented and improve the code convention Show less
