  A short-term position that required me to provide nightly, routine care for the four horses of the farm. This included bringing them in from the pasture, feeding and watering them and administering any medications that they needed. I was also in charge of grooming them, mucking out their stalls, and keeping the barn neat and clean each night, as well as any other tasks relating to their health and happiness that my boss assigned each day. My job also required me to take detailed notes about the care and condition of each of the horses each day, monitoring their health and habits to ensure that they were properly cared for.

  Two shadowing positions with this practice that each provided enormous amounts of hands on experience with large animal veterinary medicine. They allowed for practice of routine veterinary care for large animals, from sheath cleaning, teeth floating, Coggins tests, and vaccinations, as well as emergency calls, such as the birthing of lambs, the castration of a donkey, and assisting in the euthanasia of an elderly, downed horse. They also provided experience with goats, donkeys, sheep, horses, and a fawn.
