I teach Language Arts, character development, and life skills to at-risk students who need a little extra help, smaller class sizes, or behavior management strategies. My classes have 15 students per class, and each student is placed in our academy with intention. The goal is to inspire students to succeed in ways they may not have been succeeding in a regular classroom. I am responsible for preparing lessons for four different subjects (7th and 8th ELA and 7th and 8th Literature), teaching those lessons, and then assessing my students' success at state standards. I am interested in ensuring that my students learn behavior strategies and character development, so they can be engaged and thoughtful members of society. My biggest goal is to help them become better readers, so they can use the written word to help them succeed. My students have a lot of "street" or learned knowledge, but they need to match their "book" or academic knowledge to the same level. If they could, they would be unstoppable.

At Caribou, my role as a shift supervisor requires that I be a beacon of coffee knowledge, teaching and training both customers and coworkers about our products. Part of my job is to help maintain a neat, safe, and orderly environment, order supplies and complete paperwork on time, and to ensure that our customers leave the store feeling loved and caffeinated. I am responsible for teaching workshops and personal trainings at an Apple retail store. My job duties also include taking mobile appointments, working closely with specialists to empower customers to use their Apple products to enrich their lives, communicating clearly with my peers, leaders, and customers. I am excited to be in a role where I can use my many years of teaching experience, but in a different setting where I can help people learn how to keep up with, or get ahead of, the everchanging technological advances.

In my role as a Specialist at Apple, I have fulfilled the requirements of my role by excelling at customer focus, but I have also exceeded expectations by championing the set-up experience and positively moving our NPS score, participating in ConnectEd, coordinating our orders for Health Partners, becoming mobile certified and working one day a week in the Family Room. In addition to exceeding expectations in the classroom as evidenced by students’ high pass rate for their required standardized tests, each year I also presented several training opportunities for my colleagues, including a GLBT+ SafeZone training. I was responsible for creating and implementing curriculum decisions. My focus was on innovation and collaborative learning, hoping each day to learn as much from my students as they learned from each other and from me.
