Within this role, I looked after the children and supported their development and learning, through planned lessons, activities and tasks, building up their language, literacy and numeracy skills. I also observed, assessed and recorded each child’s personal, social, language and physical coordination progress, and identified ways in which their development could be furthered. I provided pastoral care and support to the children, and ensured safeguarding was maintained at all times. Deputy Vice President of Sustainability
-
May 2017 - Jun 2018
As part of my role, I oversee the development of sustainability practices of the Guild, societies and other groups within the University. I work within democratic structures to develop and improve the sustainability policies, while providing a student voice on these matters. I engage with, and lead, the approach to sustainability, and push for services to be sustainable and ethical, reducing the University’s impacts upon the environment. I campaign on sustainability and environmental issues, with a focus on reducing the barriers to sustainability for marginalised students. In my role I have co-founded the student group 'Give Up Your Paper Cup' where we are working towards reducing paper coffee cup waste on our campus by implementing a waste contract and changing behaviours regarding reusable coffee cups. I am also leading the Ethical Exeter campaign, a campaign with the aim for the University of Exeter to fully divest its current investment portfolio and transition to an ethical one or SRI/ ESG. I also assist volunteers in completing Sustainability Projects and lead the work with Guild staff to make decisions regarding resourcing Projects that are accessible to all students. Show less

I undertook a 5 week long internship with Simply Cups, where I focussed on liaising with business and Universities about implementing a specialist coffee cup recycling scheme within the workplace, to promote a sustainable behavioural culture change and improve their environmental credentials. Whilst at Simply Cups I developed a deeper understanding of how a business works, and how one can successfully implement a scheme which creates positive social change within a business. Nursery Assistant

Jun 2016 - Jul 2016
Within this role it was vital that I helped care for children, alongside the nursery school teachers. I would prepare snacks and meals for the children, and often worked with teachers to both prepare activities for the upcoming day and tidy up once an activity is finished. I worked in this role for 6 weeks, however have constantly returned to help cover supply shifts when needed.
