This role consisted of performing citizen science experiments on marine observation and meteorological observation and tests. As part of this job I engaged the young trainees aboard the vessel by encouraging them to work with me in the tests and observations, and teach them about the natural science of the world around us. I often lent a hand in the general sailing of the ship as well.
