I had the opportunity to work for Endeavour during the summer where I acquired significant insight into four different legal departments (corporate/commercial, employment, corporate property and commercial litigation). I carried out research tasks and drafted different documents when working within the corporate/commercial team, such as confidentiality agreements and board meeting minutes. In the employment team I drafted contracts of employment and researched around unfair dismissal claims. I also familiarised myself with time keeping in a law firm and using the database ‘Practical Law’. While completing a task within the commercial litigation with the other students on work experience, I scored 90% which was the highest of the other students. Show less

I had the opportunity to take undergo a one Week internship that I applied for after visiting the firm on an insight day and was later selected out of candidates from my university. It was 9-5 for the full week but often worked beyond 5 pm. I sat within three different teams: Employment, Commercial High-Value Disputes and Business Crime & Regulation. I carried out research tasks (such as looking for the precedent on unfair dismissals regarding pregnancy for the Employment team and examining the Criminal Procedural Rules for a witness summons within the Commercial team). I further made bundles, sat on conference calls, which gave great insight into preparation for a trial where the clients were asked scrutinising questions the opposition were likely to ask, which was incredibly eye-opening. The company work in partnership with AXA and incorporate modern technology heavily, such as their AI system for their clients ‘Grace’. One day with the Commercial team, I visited the firm’s HQ in Hull, where I helped on a webinar on insolvency and the different options companies can take at this point. Further, as I study company extended at university and effectively wrote a dissertation on this topic, I was able to contribute; which made me feel a valuable member of the team even though I was only the legal intern. I believe this experience has given me a sound understanding of the fast-paced nature of working in a corporate city law firm. Show less

Food Service Assistant
-
Sep 2015 - May 2016
All Wrapped Up is a fish and chip shop that serves takeaway food. Whilst working here, my independance skills improved as I had my own kitchen, where I was the sole staff member in there. I made chicken parmesans which are a delicacy in Teesside and often worked during the peak/busiest times such as the weekends. I also taken delivery orders on the phone and handled customers and believed I handled them well and illustrated my good patience and calmness when receiving any complaints, however, must of the customers were generally friendly and I enjoyed my time working here. Salesman

Jun 2015 - Aug 2015
Kits4Clubs a company that works on funding local sports teams in the area by paying for the sports kits. It could be football, rugby, cricket etc. My role was to be a salesman in Middlesbrough town centre during weekends, I needed to try and get people to sign up to the website and/or see if I could persuade them to give money to the cause. By the end of both my first two days, I made more than the other 2 workers did combined. This was again quite challenging to begin with as you must have a positive and confident mind-set from the word go as if you have a defeatist attitude and don’t believe that you can make sales you’re destined to fail. However, I feel as though my figures at the end of the day proved I adapted well to it, this represents my versatility and ability to leave my comfort zone. Show less

Jun 2013 - Jun 2015
Had the opportunity to work part time on my day off from college to shadow a partner around the office and helped organise case bundles. I also worked in administration, filing cases away and closing cases that had expired. It was an enjoyable experience working in a fast, high pressured environment amongst people who have a career that I would like to have. It enhanced my multi-tasking abilities and working with different people at the same time, as I often had many separate tasks to complete in the same day. Show less

Corportate Junge were a sales agency that made £4.5million in just 4 years. In the summer of 2013 the year I left school I did painting for this company. In a small team of 3, we painted the new offices and a new barber shop that they bought called ‘the original barber company’. When moving into the new offices, I installed key equipment such as computers then also put in desks, furniture, etc. Also, helped promote the new barber shop in around Teesside by methods such as: leafletting, promoting on the street and through the means of social media.
