Writing Tutor
-
Sep 2012 - May 2015
After an invitational application and interview process, I was selected to enroll in the University Writing Center's pedagogical methods course. Upon completing this extensive training, I began working at the UWC as a full tutor. As a UWC tutor, I became experienced in working with undergraduates, graduate students, and faculty on writing ranging from basic essays, personal statements and job applications, up to doctoral dissertations. Our methods emphasized Socratic questioning, and a non-directive approach in helping clients to develop ideas, plan and organize writing, and fine tune or edit drafts. As a tutor, I also engaged in volunteer tutoring programs through the UWC, working with students of local middle and high schools.
