I would like to recommend Connor Rattey as a young man of tremendous potential. I have had the pleasure of observing Connor's advancement in Scouting for over six years, and I am honored to have participated in his Eagle Advancement Ceremony. The rank of Eagle is the highest achievement in Scouting. Only about 2% of scounts earn this rank. Regardless of how some people may feel about scouting, earning the rank of Eagle is a remarkable achievement. To earn it, Connor had to serve in leadership positions within his Troop and lead a community service project. In business terms, that means that Connor has direct experience in leadership, mentoring, management, communications, sales, and project management. In addition to scouting, I also have gotten to know Connor through his friendship with my son. I can personally vouch for Connor's integrity, perseverance, intelligence, and wit.

I served as an academic and social resource to the 600 freshmen living in the Honors Living Learning Community. In this role I collaborated with 24 Resident Assistants and a number of other support staff members to analyze community trends and develop relevant, academic programming for the residents in the community. I acted as an academic resource to the 500+ freshmen that live in the Honors LLC by committing to 10 office hours per week and by living alongside them. I organized and carried out one program each month that was dedicated to helping students achieve their full academic potential. Show less

I analyzed the content and effectiveness of 10+ online financial literacy softwares in regards to how well they prepare individuals to manage their personal finances. I also probed financial literacy education initiatives from across the nation to determine their influence on students’ financial skills and knowledge. My research culminated in me presenting my research findings to 150+ professionals at the first National Summit on Financial Wellness in Columbus, Ohio. At this summit I collaborated with the Vice Dean of the Fox School and a faculty member to lead a breakout session on the state of financial literacy education at Temple and the initiatives that the university was taking to improve the financial literacy of its students. I worked side-by-side with another student and a teacher to facilitate the start-up and operation of a school store at Montgomery Blair High School. The store operated during lunch periods to sell snacks, drinks, and student creations. The school store continues to employ student volunteers from the Blair's Entrepreneurship Academy, and focuses on employee personal development by providing students with knowledge and experiences. Students experience first-hand, the ins and outs of operating a small business by participating in ordering, marketing, accounting, logistics, and business relations. Show less
