Learned how to read and use old code from other projects to simulate seismic activity within volcanoes. Created a Python workflow to convert the outputs of this simulation code into mathematical waveforms through use of the Green’s function. This code allows for simulations of seismic waves traveling through heterogeneous mediums instead of the assumption of a homogeneous medium. The workflow continues to be used. Presented at the Stanford Symposium of Undergraduate Research and Public Service… Show more Learned how to read and use old code from other projects to simulate seismic activity within volcanoes. Reviewed data spreadsheets on costs to convert to clean energy for 70 global megacities and converted them into a more compact form of statistical analysis. Determined cost-effectiveness and summarized total monetary gain for these cities as a result of changing from current energy grid structures to 100% clean wind, water, and solar energy. Results included in final publication by Professor Jacobson. Under Professor Dustin Schroeder, analyzed freshly revealed flight logs from expeditions to Antarctica from the late 1960s with the goal of determining the location of missing flight paths from modernized data. Said notebooks had been in private access for over 50 years prior to investigation. Determined flight paths for two separate flights based on investigation of recording techniques and flight navigation systems, as well as use of MATLAB to plot flights. Researched the effects of oxygen depletion in low oxygen zone in ocean waters by analyzing levels of nitrite as it relates to the production of greenhouse gases in nitrogen cycle. Specifically researched with samples from the Saanich Bay in British Columbia. Member of the Stanford Earth Young Investigators Program working in the Karen Casciotti Lab. Research accepted to present in 2017 AGU Fall Conference in New Orleans. Researched the effects of oxygen depletion in low oxygen zone in ocean waters by analyzing levels of nitrite as it relates to the production of greenhouse gases in the nitrogen cycle. Analyzed water samples from the Eastern Tropical North Pacific (ETNP), off the southwestern coast of Mexico, which contains a natural oxygen-deficient zone or OMZ. The research presented here focuses on characterizing Nitrite concentrations at varying depths in 3 different locations in the ETNP OMZ.
