I mainly worked with Colm on a high-impact customer facing project for 3+ years. His role was an engineering manager for a critical squad delivering high impact services. What I was amazed most by Colm was his dedication to customer success, his leadership qualities with his team and stakeholders, and the impact he and his team could provide to ensure a high level of engineering quality. Throughout the project, Colm would approach each issue, question, and concern with an analytical, growth mindset applying various techniques to improve quality, efficiencies, and the customer experience. Colm was an amazing colleague, continually learning and improving. Colm's leadership, customer-focused approach, work ethic, and growth mindset helped to ensure that the project would be successful. I worked with Colm on an extremely challenging engagement for 6 months. It was challenging from a technical point-of-view (requirements were myriad and ever-changing, legacy systems were involved, but many new systems that as well, and speculative functionality had been promised), challenging from an organizational point-of-view (many different orgs from different companies were involved), and difficult politically (the project was designed to be delivered in ways new to all the involved companies and there was a lot of resistance). Colm was a shining light through all this, he seemed to know how all the important parts had to play together, he knew alternate ways to get things done when the obvious route was blocked, and he always found time – for an amazing number of meetings and people. Additionally, he did actual technical work on the project as well and took critical deliverables when something needed to happen. He is a rare resource, and I would be delighted to work with him again in a project in practically any capacity.
