After twenty years of conducting hundreds of oral-outcry sequential auctions, Intellimarket co-founder, Bill Stevenson, experienced all the pitfalls, inefficiencies, limitations and negative residual effects that were inherent with this type of auction. It troubled him that sellers did not fully maximize their possible return and buyers were consistently dissatisfied with the event and process. In 1997, in collaboration with Caltech Professor Dr. Charles Plott, they created a new proprietary Dynamic Pricing System that has proven to generate better results for sellers and more satisfied buyers. At the live or web-based Intellimarket sales event, an electronic-based Dynamic Pricing System is used to sell all assets simultaneously. With full transparency to the pricing of all assets, prospective buyers make educated and confident decisions when placing their bids. Giving the buyers the opportunity to bid on multiple items and switch their bids to different items, results in a higher volume of bidding. A higher volume of bidding results in better returns for Intellimarket's clients. Colleen Lakshin was Intellimarket's Auction Sales Director and spearheaded the success of several auctions; Rowan Lofts in Los Angeles - 63 lofts sold in one day. La Playa Court in Playa del Rey- 39 condominiums sold in one day. Element in Marina del Rey- 41 Lofts sold in one day on December 13, 2009.
