Everything I learned about fundraising I learned from Colleen, and I had the distinct pleasure of working for her twice, first at the Santa Fe Community Foundation and again at the Museum of New Mexico Foundation. Colleen's calm and effective leadership style was great to be around and allowed those of us who reported to her to grow under her gentle guidance. She is a great boss and mentor to those she manages. When I am complemented on my fundraising and development abilities (whether professionally or personally), I always make a point to acknowledge Colleen by name for her guidance and honing of my skills. Simply put, she is excellent at what she does.

As Chief Development Officer, I oversaw fundraising and communications for the first museum of modern art in Texas. My role made sure the museum has the resources to engage a diverse community in the discovery and enjoyment of the arts. The board of trustees, volunteers, staff and I were committed to insuring our visitors benefit from hundreds of public education programs, reinforcing the important role that museums like the McNay play as lifelong learning institutions. Achieved significant competence in fundraising and nonprofit management while overseeing seven capital campaigns between 1994-2009. I collaborated with committed prominent board members, philanthropists, and other private sector leaders in sustaining, building, stabilizing, and growing the state museums of New Mexico.
